Collaborative studio sessions to trial or practice new techniques in kiln forming

This class is for artists that already understand the basics of kiln forming and want to be supported learning or practicing new techniques beyond the basics of cutting and fusing. The session is organized as an artist's cooperative where each artists picks a technique and uses the five weeks time to learn and trial the new technique. Artists should expect to participate in mutually supportive peer critiques.

Sessions run each Monday night from 5:30- 9:30p. They begin on May 8th and end on June 12th, skipping the 5th for Memorial Day.

Typical intermediate techniques include:
- Advanced slumping and drop casting
- Murinni pattern casting
- Introduction to pate de verre
- Open faced casting
- Frit painting & advanced fusing We are open to other techniques, but check with instructor first to ensure studio space and equipment permit.

Basic warm shop tools will be provided as will the cold shop for those already qualified.

Scrap glass (Bullseye 90 COE) will be available but otherwise bring any of their own supplies.

One Kiln fire is provided per session. Artists will need to coordinate as only one program can be run at a time per kiln. A MGW artist will unload/load kilns for students should we need to run multiple different programs.

Each artist is expected to provide specific programs to run for their firings, MGW is not responsible for firing program errors or unexpected resuilts. But we will help if you are trying to figure out appropriate program firing schedules.
