Service Description
Join us at Monterey Glassworks for a 5-week Kiln Studio Colab session, designed for kiln artists who have completed a kiln working class at MGW or elsewhere. This is an ideal, '2nd class' for new kiln artists that would like to practice their techniques, experienced ones that would like to learn a new one with support of an instructor, or experienced artists looking to use larger production kilns than they have available in their home studio. Class is capped at 5 participants, each choosing their own projects, and participating supportively. Our experienced staff will provide you with access and support for using our equipment to create your own unique works of art using a variety of techniques. Equipment includes: Kilns - large bell kiln (60" x 42"), GL20 kiln (20x20") Working tools - pliers, glass cutters, safety equipment Furniture & Molds - variety of slumping molds and kiln furniture Consumable supplies - refractory fiber paper, kiln fire paper, kiln wash, plaster, silica for mold making, alginate. Scrap glass - bullseye clear and random mix of scrap colors Participants must provide their own colored glass. We recommend bullseye, if you wish it to compatible with our facility scrap glass. **New This Session** To help participants that need multiple fires to complete their work (eg a fuse and a slump). Artists can have a second firing per week in the GL20 while taking the class. Let your creativity shine and take your kiln art to the next level with Monterey Glassworks.
