All Monterey GlassWorks instructors are glass artists that make their own works, but also enjoy teaching others.
Gavin is a bay area glassblower based in San Jose, CA. He holds a BFA from SJSU and has developed and taught a variety of curriculum in multiple public glassblowing studios.
His work is inspired by venetian technique, while embracing Japanese and Scandinavian design. His passion belongs to teaching, as he strives to provide accessible and educational experiences to further communities knowledge and exposure to glassblowing.
Nathan is the owner Monterey Glassworks, leads all designs produced out of MGW and our lighting brand (Innate Studios). He holds an Industrial Design BA from California College of the Arts and has worked as both a production glassblower and instructor in studios from San Francisco to Seattle.
Nathan's glasswork is strongly inspired by classic venetian techniques but mixed with his love of innovation modern 3d technology. He enjoys teaching both beginning and advanced skills to glassblowers trying to expand their own repertoire.
George William Bell
Will is a professional artist who lives here on the Monterey Peninsula. His glass is exhibited and collected globally, represented by galleries in Seattle, NYC and Copenhagen. He specializes in the decorative techniques of cane and murrine.
Will spends portions of the year as artist in residence at MGW and when he is, offers private lessons to experienced glassblowers looking to expand their skills.
Anthony is a full time employee and designer at Monterey Glassworks. He helps run all of the production, classes and residencies offered here at our studio. Anthony holds a BFA from San Jose State and currently resides in Monterey.
For his personal work Anthony focuses on functional home decor combined with detailed etchings. Sign up for his glass etching class (Blast Off) if hot glass is not your thing.
Al is a glass artist that lives nearby in Carmel, making his own works out of Monterey Glassworks
He started working with glass 17 years ago as a glassblower, learning under Karl Carter in Philadelphia. Today, Al works exclusively in kiln formed glass to make image and narrative art in glass.
Al leads all of the introductory classes in the warm shop (kiln working) as well as our intermediate techniques workshops. You will nearly always find him in studio making his own works during Open Studio periods.
