## About Guided Skills courses. This class is part of the Guided Skills series. Open Studio members can add a guided session or sessions to their open studio time. They will get access to a follow along curriculum and a coach will be available to help you complete the class during your open studio time. Fees for the coursework include: + instructor fees, + course guide, + kiln firings + supplies (glass, mold materials, refractory, and other consumables depending on the class). + 3d print fees ## About This Course Lost Wax is the traditional method for making sculpture positives for casting. In this guided skills class I will explain how the process and settings to use a 3d printer and PLA filament to replace lost wax in your sculpting process. For this project, you will spend four studio sessions completing a simple project of turning a photo image into a cast bas relief glass tile, or a small sculpture into a glass casting. Day 1: Digital Workflow - Use software to prepare an image (or small digital sculpture) for printing on a 3d printer then generate print. Day 2: Mold Building - Convert that PLA print (positive) into a castable mold (negative) with glass reservoir. Day 3: Casting -Pack/load glass into mold and prep for casting, load kiln and start a proper firing schedule Day 4: Divesting and finishing
