Guided Skills - Reusable molds
Create reusable molds using wax & ZIRCAR refractory
Service Description
## About Guided Skills courses. This class is part of the Guided Skills series. Open Studio members can add a guided session or sessions to their open studio time. They will get access to a follow along curriculum and a coach will be available to help you complete the class during your open studio time. Fees for the coursework include: + instructor fees, + course guide, + kiln firings + supplies (glass, mold materials, refractory, and other consumables depending on the class). ## About This Course I love plaster silica molds as much as the next glass artist, but when you need to make a dozen of an object...or hundreds, that just won't work. That's when you want to make a reusable mold. For this project, you will spend two studio sessions to creating a reusable mold of a chess piece (or similar) and casting your first pieces with it. Day 1: Create positive with alginate, and wax - Use Zircar mold mix refractory to form a casting mold Day 2: Cure & melt wax out, prep and load for firing. At the completion of this course your first pieces will be ready for removal & cold working if desired.
